Hey there, folks! Long time no blog. If I'm honest? That might be the norm. Talking about myself is challenging, so this will easily be the most difficult part of my new big-kid side-gig.
Anywho, you might be wondering, amidst life's hustle and bustle, why on earth would someone dive into the world of crafting candles and soaps? Well, grab your favorite mug of tea and settle in, because I'm about to spill the wax on why I chose the DIY life.
Picture this: a full-time job that keeps me on my toes where I never have the same day twice, coupled with the chaos of raising two tiny humans. Sounds like a recipe for utter exhaustion, right? Well, yeah. That is absolutely true. But here's the thing – passion knows no bounds. Even when time feels as elusive as a soap bubble popping over a soothing nighttime bath, that fiery drive to create still burns bright.
So, why candles and soaps, you ask? Well, it all started with a simple desire to make better candles than what I could find in the stores. I wanted candles that didn't just smell good, but enveloped me in a cozy hug after a long day of adulting. And so, armed with a curious spirit and an I-can-do-it-better attitude, I delved into the world of candle-making.

(first ever image of my candles. yes, that is a piece of scrapbooking paper for a background.)
But here's the thing about me – I didn't just want any old candle. Oh no, I wanted the BEST candle. I wanted to craft candles that were not only eco-friendly but also boasted fragrances that could rival a stroll through a blooming garden or a pine-scented forest. It took me literal YEARS to find myself satisfied with the final product. Let me tell you, once I perfected my recipe and that first batch of soy wax and fragrance oil melted together, I knew I was onto something special.
But did I stop there? Of course not! Because once you get a taste of creation, there's no turning back. So, after years perfecting my candle-making process, I decided to dip my toes (quite literally) into the world of soap-making. After all, why should the joy of customization be confined to just one realm?
It should be no surprise, ladies and gents, that the world of soap-making is a slippery, sudsy delight! From swirling colors to fun textures, the possibilities are as endless as the bubbles in a freshly drawn bath. I found myself lost in a world of experimentation, mixing and matching ingredients like a mad scientist on a quest for the perfect potion, safety goggles and all!
And there, in the remnants of waxes and oils, there's one thing that resonated deeply – the sheer joy of sharing my creations with the community around me. Whether it's gifting a hand-poured candle to a friend in need of a smile or hearing the excitement in a coworker's voice as they tell me how much they loved the loofah in my original soap recipe, the connection forged through scent and texture is truly priceless.
So, there you have it, friends – the tale of how a busy bee like me found solace and satisfaction in the world of DIY candles and soaps. Because sometimes, in the midst of life's chaos, it's the little moments of creation and connection that truly light up our world.
Until next time, keep shining bright and sudsing on!
